Attracting Voice-Over Clients & Minimizing Rejection (CAUTION: Crying In This Video!)

coaching Dec 14, 2023

Rejection can be a common and significant part of any voice-over life, especially when beginning your career. If it were a physical product we were selling, it would be much easier to handle a prospective customer passing on a purchase. However, it can feel devastating when we, as voice-over artists, are rejected for an audition or have little or no sales. If we reveal our true personalities and offer our authentic selves in our work, we feel personally rejected when turned down. Artists tend to feel things "louder" than others. I know that feeling well. In this video, I speak with voice-over artist Leah, who has recently been passed over for a project. We talk about how to handle the rejection. We also discuss how we can minimize its occurrence by improving the quality of our voice-over recordings and marketing ourselves to attract ideal clients with whom we can create artistic synergy.
