What is a custom voice-over processing preset?

A custom processing preset for your voice-over is a series of plugins explicitly tuned for your voice, in your room, and on your microphone. If you want to compete in today's voice-over world, you must ensure that your demos and auditions are extraordinary. Voice-over artists at every experience level from all over the world are fighting to win work. However, if you don't have a professional sound, you will lose out to someone who does.

Custom voice-over processing presets can take your audio presentation quality to the level necessary to compete with the pros. Instead of taking it upon yourself to tweak the parameters like EQ compression, DeEssing, and saturation to name a few, you can hire a professional voice-over audio engineer to create it for you. Once you have the custom preset on your system, you have "The Sound" every time you press the record button. The investment pays for itself with the money and time saved. Here are the top reasons why a custom processing preset is a good investment:

  • A custom processing preset lets you focus on your strengths, leaving more time for pitching your voice-over and less time stumbling with engineering.
  • A custom processing preset gives you the confidence necessary to help you perform your best.
  • A custom processing preset allows you to outshine the competition, win more auditions, and get more work.

How much does a custom preset cost?

To get a price quote for your custom processing preset, I first need to get a little information about your system, challenges, and goals. Once I clearly understand the work that needs to be accomplished, I will be happy to send you an itemized quote for the cost of your custom processing preset. There is no charge to demo the sound of your custom-tuned preset. As a result, you can get an accurate idea of how the finished product can genuinely optimize your voice-over sound at no cost. You can demo the sound of your custom processed voice-over free.

Can I demo my custom preset sound before buying?

The first step is to fill out the form and send me an audio sample of your voice according to the instructions. Once you submit your voice for processing, I will let you know if your audio recording quality needs improvement or if it's ready for prime time. If your production quality needs improvement, you will be offered suggestions to help identify and resolve any issues before being asked to resubmit audio. On the other hand, if your audio recording quality is up to par, you will receive a sample of your custom-tuned processed sound to review for free.

What if I want to change the sound of my preset?

The custom processing preset for voice-over is a series of plugins that manipulate the audio to produce the best sound possible. Once you purchase a custom preset and install it on your system, the same processing that you heard in the demo is now happening on your machine. But what if the sound is different? Or, what if you decide you want to adjust (or tweak) the sound after the purchase is complete? No problem.

Revisions are available immediately after installation. Additionally, once you live with your preset and get some time to work with your new and improved sound, you can have the preset revised until you are delighted. The goal is for you to be utterly in love with your sound and, more importantly, be confident. Revisions are available for up to one year after the date of purchase. A custom processing preset includes revisions until you are completely satisfied with the sound. (Revisions are not included in the Basic Preset Package)

Will the preset work with different types of reads?

The custom processing preset for voice-over is a series of plugins that manipulate the audio to produce the best sound possible. You may be wondering if the preset will work with different style reads. For example, will it handle a soft, detailed audiobook passage and a loud, in-your-face style auto commercial? The answer is yes! Your custom processing preset includes multiple strength-level versions, which provide you with the perfect sound for any style, delivery, and client request. You can use These strength levels include the following:

  • Full Processing: This strength level produces a full polished sound with a comprehensive frequency response and consistent energy and power.
  • Mild Processing: This strength level produces a polished sound while allowing for more dynamics.
  • Tone Only Processing: This strength level offers an unprocessed sound while retaining all tone corrections and adjustments.

(Strength levels are not included in the Basic Preset Package)

What if I need to send a client an "unprocessed" version?

Another common question is, "what if my client requests an "unprocessed" version of my voice recording?" Again, the "Tone Only" strength level is what you should use in that situation.  A typical custom preset use case for voice-over artists is to send an audition for a job using the "Full Processing" or "Mild Processing" versions. These two strength levels are also commonly used for posting demos. Then, once a job is acquired, a "Tone Only" version is sent as the final recording. (Strength levels are not included in the Basic Preset Package)
