Custom Processing Preset

Precision processing, built around your voice and how you record.

What This Is

A Custom Processing Preset is designed to optimize a raw voice recording that already meets a minimum quality threshold.

If you’re on this page, it’s because I’ve listened to your submission and determined that processing can improve how your voice is presented — either through pure optimization or by working within the current limits of your capture.

This is not a generic preset and it’s not designed to fix poor recordings. It’s a precision tool, built specifically around your voice and how you record, based on the diagnostic review.

What a Custom Processing Preset Does

  • Improves clarity and intelligibility without changing the character of your voice
  • Shapes tonal balance in a controlled, natural way
  • Smooths dynamics so your voice sounds more consistent
  • Helps your voice translate emotion more clearly to the listener
  • Creates repeatable results across recording sessions

How CPP Fits Into Real-World Improvement

In most real-world situations, a Custom Processing Preset is part of a two-stage improvement process.

Processing can often improve clarity, control noise, and reduce the impact of mild room issues — even when the recording environment isn’t perfect. This makes your audio more usable and more consistent right away.

At the same time, the raw capture always sets the quality ceiling. Improving the recording environment, mic placement, or capture technique will allow processing to go even further.

A CPP isn’t meant to hide limitations. It helps you work within them while making it clear what changes would raise the ceiling over time.

How the CPP Process Works

  1. You purchase the Custom Processing Preset.
  2. After purchase, I collect the technical details needed to build it correctly.
  3. I create a custom processed sound example for alignment.
  4. One alignment adjustment is included to refine direction.
  5. You receive your final preset, built for repeatable use.

Do I Need Different Presets for Different Types of Reads?

In most cases, no.

A Custom Processing Preset is designed to be a neutral, reliable foundation that works across a range of reads — commercial, narration, conversational, and similar styles. The biggest differences between reads usually come from performance, mic distance, and delivery, not from radically different processing.

The goal of a CPP is to give you a consistent, professional baseline that lets your performance do the work.

If you work in clearly distinct categories that require fundamentally different treatment, that’s something I take into account during diagnosis. But most voices benefit far more from one solid, repeatable foundation than from switching chains constantly.

A Note on Processing and Performance

A Custom Processing Preset is a lens — not the thing that creates the performance.

Processing helps your voice translate clearly, consistently, and professionally. But what actually moves the needle is you: your delivery, your control, your emotional connection, and the choices you make behind the mic.

The goal of a CPP is not to replace skill or identity. It’s to remove friction so your voice, your intent, and your style come through without distraction.

What’s Included

  • A custom processing preset built to deliver the same sound you heard in your processed example, based on your voice and recording setup
  • A custom processing preset built using Waves F6 Dynamic EQ and Waves Scheps Omni Channel
(Additional plugin requests are handled separately and may involve additional fees)
  • Four strength levels for flexibility:
    • Standard (the sound you heard in the example)
    • Maximum
    • Light
    • Tone Only (EQ only, no compression — useful when a client requests a raw file after approving a processed audition)
  • One revision, valid for up to one year from the date of purchase
  • A user guide with clear usage and installation instructions

Plugin & Configuration Notes

The Custom Processing Preset is built using the Waves F6 Dynamic EQ and Waves Scheps Omni Channel plugin chain. These plugins are not included in the $600 fee and are purchased separately by you.

You can view current pricing and product details for these plugins on the Waves website using the links above.

Requests to use specific third-party plugins, or to limit the build to DAW stock plugins only (such as Logic Pro or Adobe Audition), significantly increase build time and testing complexity.

For that reason, plugin-restricted builds are reviewed on a case-by-case basis and quoted separately at a higher rate than the base Custom Processing Preset.

The Custom Processing Preset requires a digital audio workstation that supports VST3 Waves plugins. A Waves subscription is not required.

The preset is delivered using the Waves StudioVerse plugin shell, which is free and included to make installation and recall easier.

Recording Consistency & Level Requirements

A Custom Processing Preset is designed around a specific recording setup and capture behavior. To get the intended result consistently, those conditions need to remain replicable.

Changes to mic position, distance, rotation, room acoustics, acoustic treatment, microphone choice, interface, or other recording equipment can alter how the preset responds and may prevent it from producing the sound it was designed for.

In addition, the preset is built and tuned for recordings captured at a peak level of approximately –6 dB. Feeding the preset recordings that are significantly louder or quieter than this level will change how the processing behaves and may not yield the intended result.

For best results, the preset should be used with the same recording setup, technique, and input level it was designed around.

Before You Purchase

There’s no pressure to move forward. The purpose of this page is to give you clear information so you can decide whether this step makes sense for you right now. If improving your raw capture first feels like the better next move, that’s valid too. This system is designed to support the right sequence — not to rush decisions.
